May 13th - May 17th

Parents please mark your calendars for 10:15 a.m. on Friday, May 24. Because of the great success last year, we are once again turning our Discovery Idol into a SPRING CONCERT where our students will showcase their advances in Music Class. We hope to see you all there!

We would like to take the chance to say good-bye to two wonderful first graders. Juwon Sohn and Mizuki Flores. Juwon will be leaving Discovery School and we wish him the best in his new journey. Mizuki will join the team again in Second Grade. For both of them have a safe trip and we wish you the best of the best! 

This coming Friday, May 17th we are going to be celebrating Ramsay's 7th birthday. Pizza and cake will be provided for lunch. You only need to pack a snack for your child on this day.

This week your child will be reviewing all the Word Walls with various chants and activities. The spelling challenge will be on Friday, May 17^th.

For the following two weeks, we are going to be reading Grasshopper on the Road by Arnold Lobel. The students will be discussing new vocabulary and making predictions about the story. 

In Math, we are going to be working with interpreting data. The students will be introduced to the word graph. We are going to be discussing different kinds of graphs. Our main focus for this week will be pictographs.

In Science we are going to continue with our unit about Animal Babies. We are going to be doing a lot of STEM activities about this magnificent unit. If you happen to have any posters, books, stuffed baby animals, etc. we would appreciate to borrow them from you. Thanks in advance.
