September 17 - 21

I  hoped everyone enjoyed their holidays!

Our "Desayuno Catracho" was delicious and a complete success. All the children enjoyed it and had the opportunity to taste some of the food for the first time.

Progress reports went home last week. Please look them over, if you have any questions or comments feel free to contact us. Do not forget to sign them and send them back to school. 

This week we will begin our Math MAP Test. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest as well as a healthy breakfast for them to be ready to take the test.

We invite you to visit www.nwea.org so you can have more information about what MAP is all about! First Grade will be taking the test on Wednesday, September 19th and Friday, September 21st.

Students will be reviewing the word wall words we have studied up to this point through various activities and chants. The spelling challenge will be on Friday.   This week we will be introducing the following sight words:

We will continue writing opinion pieces. The children practice the writing process and they are all aware that our writing needs a title, an opening sentences, reasons or details to support our opinion and a conclusion. This week we are all going to be writing about our favorite type of weather. Do you prefer sunny or snowy weather?

For this week’s math, we will continue working with subtraction.

We will begin our first science unit. We will be talking about Light and Sound. If you happen to have something about this theme that we can use in our classroom, please let us borrow it.
