September 10-14

Dear Parents,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend! This will be a short and busy week.

Our school is preparing to celebrate the Independence Day that will take place on Thursday September 13th.
We will begin the celebrations with our traditional Desayuno Catracho. THANK YOU to those parents that have sent Honduran touristic pictures. Your support is greatly appreciated. We would love to have the kids wearing Honduran typical clothes, or jeans and white shirt on this day.

Some students are responsible to bring in assigned food items. Please contact Ms. Melissa Kumagai (Lianna´s mom). If you were not assigned for this celebration, we would request your help in future celebrations.

September 13th is a half day. Students will be going home at 11:45 am. Your child does not need to bring in a snack for break or lunch that day. There will be no school Friday, September 14th, and Monday, September 17th. Classes resume on Tuesday, September 18th.

This week, your child will inquire into the following:

Students will be reviewing the word wall words we have studied up to this point through various activities and chants.  Due to the short week, we will not have a spelling challenge.

Please make sure your child can recognize them all.

We will be wrapping our Honduras Unit. The students will watch a variety of videos of different touristic places in Honduras. They have learned about the Honduran flag and its meaning. They have also learned about the national flower, bird, animal, and tree.

In Math we have started Chapter 2. We have been doing a variety of subtraction activities and will continue to do so.

Have a nice and safe Holiday!!

Que Viva Honduras!!
