October 9-13

Dear Families, 

Welcome Back! I hope everyone enjoyed their October holidays!

This month your child will have the opportunity to purchase books through the International Scholastic Book Clubs. This is an optional activity offered by the school, in case you want to motivate your child to read at home and to increase their own library. With you purchase, our library will accumulate points to redeem for more books for the benefit of you children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is October 9^th. The books will arrive to the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students according to their orders, approximately three weeks after the purchase due date. 

Remember on Tuesday October 10th we will have a Birthday celebration, please do not bring lunch.

This week your child will be reading The Fat Cat Sat on the Mat by Nurit Karlin. We will be discussing story elements such as characters, setting, and plot. We are also going to be identifying the nouns in the story.

Your child will write their last opinion piece about if they would rather jump in a pile of leaves or go apple picking? They will provide reasons for this and provide an opening and closing sentence.

We will begin our study of Chapter 3. For this week’s math, we will be furthering our learning of addition with its different strategies. We will be learning about commutative properties and adding doubles. Our Math Test (Chapter 2) has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 10^th.
