WEEK OF MAY 8-12, 2017

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

Next Friday May 12th we will be hosting our Mother's day Show and Breakfast. Our performance will begin at 8:15 am.  

Please remember that there will be a General Assembly on Saturday, May 20^th, at 9:00 a.m.  Among the issues to be addressed are 1) the school calendar, 2) the budget for the coming year, and 3) the election of board members.  Please mark this on your calendars.  

This week your child will be inquiring into the following:

Language Arts

Word Wall- This week your child will be reviewing all the Word Walls with various chants and activities. The spelling challenge will be on Friday, May 12th. The six new words that we will be introducing this week are:

Reading- For reading, we will be reading fables to learn about respect and responsibility. We will read The Fox and the Stork  and The Ant and the Grasshopper.

Writing- For writing, we will be learning about four different types of plants and their environments. Children will write informational pieces about these plants.

Science- We will continue learning about 4 different types of Habitats: oceans, desert, rainforest, arctic. We will also learn how certain animals adapt to live in these habitats.

Math- This week your child will continue learning about two dimensional shapes.

SUMMER CAMP AT DISCOVERY SCHOOL  - Just like last year, Discovery Zone is back!!! Discovery Zone 8 is a fun, artistic and entertaining camp for children 2 to 9 years old. The camp will run from June 13th to June 30th, with a schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00. Transportation is available at a small additional cost. If you or a relative/friend is interested, more information can be given to you by the accounting offices in school.
