Week 10 October 10th-14th


Dear Parents,

We hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend. Its hard to believe that we are already wrapping up our first quarter.

This week we will be working on the following:


LANGUAGE ARTS:

Phonics: We will continue to work on identifying beginning, middle and ending sounds in words.
               Our spelling words for this week are: are, but, were, what, we, not

Reading: This week we will be reading The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle: We will be identifying the characters, setting, and problem of the story. We will also be sequencing the story.



The students will also begin reading their A-Z Readers in class.They will also be taking these books home. Have your child read these books to you and ask him/her questions about the book.


Writing: We will continue to work on writing sentences. Focusing on using Capital letters, complete thughts, and punctuation.


Math: We will continue to add numbers using different strategies; counting on and using a number line. We will be adding doubles and doubles plus 1.

Theme: We will be learning about Christopher Columbus. 






 


Monday: Read 10 min
                Math: Workshhet Add in any order

Tuesday:Read 10 min
                Phonics: Short vowel sound worksheet

Wednesday: Read 10 min
                 Phonics: Write the name of the picture

Thursday: Read 10min
                  Phonics: Spelling word worksheet




Our school’s GENERAL ASSEMBLY is this Thursday October 13th at 6:00 p.m. Please try to come!


** Monday October 17th is a HOLIDAY!


** Next Friday October 21st is Student Led Conferences / Report Card Day. There will be no classes on this day, but parents need to come with their 1st  grader for the conference. Times for appointments will be sent home soon.
