Dear Parents
Our first full week of school went really well. The children are settling into their new class routines and procedures. They are very excited about being in First Grade.
It was great meeting you at Open House, and thank you for signing up for the different celebrations we will be having throughout the year. If you were unable to sign up for an event I will be sending home the sign up sheet this wek, please choose a celebration and write your name on the line.
Our fieldtrip to Chiminike was awesome!
The students had the opportunity to look at life size dinosaurs and learn interesting facts about these amazing creatures.
This Thursday, August 26th, we will be having an Ecofriendly Lunch Day. This is a day to highlight waste-free lunches. Please send your child's sanck & lunch in plastic containers. You can visit this link to find more information about waste free lunches: http://www.wastefreelunches.org/
This week we will be working on the following:
Language Arts: We will be reading Hattie and The Fox this week as a class. The students will be doing various activities with this story.
We will also be assessing your child to determine academic strengths and areas of growth
Phonics: Review sight words: I, it, go, to, at, the, of, a, in, of, is, he,was, for, on, are, as, be, have, from, PLEASE REVIEW THESE WORDS WITH YOUR CHILD
Words to study for spelling challenge and, with, his, that, they
Math: We will continue with Patterns and Readiness for Addition and Subtraction.
We will also be assessing your child to determine academic strengths and areas of growth
Social Studies: We will continue with our beginning of the year assessments
