Dear Parents,


We hope you enjoyed your weekend!


Please do not forget to check the blog every Monday.

Please label all of of child's belongings: food containers, sweaters, water bottles, etc.

This coming Friday the first graders will begin their weekly Spelling Challenges. The word list will be posted every Monday.



We will do a number of different activities with the words throughout the week to help the students learn how to spell these words. It would be helpful to also review these words with your child at home.





This week we will be working on the following:

Language Arts: This week we will be reading The Little Red Hen in class. We will be focusing on identifying the setting of the story, identifying the characters and using the pictures to make predictions about the story. 

We will continue assessing your child to determine academic strengths and areas of growth

 Phonics/ Spelling: Word list is: the, of,and, a, to, in

We will be doing various activities with these words daily in order for your child to be able to read and write these words correctly.

Math: We will be wrapping up our unit on Patterns and Readiness for Addition and Subtraction.

Social Studies: We will continue with our Citizenship Unit, focusing on Honesty, Responsiblity, and Respect

HOMEWORK

Monday:  Words that rhyme with "hat" worksheet

                Read 15 min

Tuesday: "Starts the Same" worksheet

                 Read 15 min

Wednesday: ABC order worksheet

                       Read 15 min.

Thursday: Study for Spelling Challenge

                  Read 15 min.
