The students will start reading, Frog and Toad All Year. They will begin with the story, Down the Hill.
Please remember that students will be having a Raz-Kids assignment every Thursday. They will have to read the book we assign to them. If you have any questions, please contact us.
This week your child will continue working on learning subtraction strategies. Some of these strategies are counting backwards, doubles minus one, making ten, and fact families. We will be deciding which one is the best strategy to use to solve subtraction problems given. We are going to be having a Chapter 4 Review on Friday. Our Math Test for this unit is going to be on Monday, November 12th.

This week we will continue writing Personal Narratives. First Grade A will be writing about “If I were a Turkey.”
First Grade B
In Science we will begin with a new unit called Structure, Function and Information Processing. The students will be able to understand how plants and animals use their external parts to help them to survive, grow, and meet their needs.
We would like to collect some old magazines from you. These magazines should be magazines in good conditions and that can be read by children. We are planning on doing a variety of activities with them in our Math and Science class.
Permission slips for the Health Fair will be sent home on Monday please return them as soon as possible.
