October 30- November 3



Dress Up / Costume Day is this Tuesday October 31st We are going to be having a celebration on this day. Students will come to school dressed up as their favorite book, or movie character. You do not need to send in lunch with your child.

We will also be trick or treating around school. Please send in one bag of candies, lollipops, chocolates or any small treats or toys if you have not done so. Children should bring their own basket for this activity.


This week your child will be reviewing all the Word Wall words with various chants and activities. The spelling challenge will be on Friday November 3rd.

This week your child will continue working on learning addition strategies such as adding in any order, counting on, adding doubles, adding doubles plus one /doubles minus one, making ten, adding ten. We will be deciding which one is the best strategy to use to solve addition problems given. We will also be introducing the Associative Property of Addition.


This week we will be reading the story Room on the Broom. Children will identify all the rhyming words they can find on the book. They will also create their own sentence using two rhyming words



This week we will continue writing Personal Narratives. The children will be writing about a how they get ready for school.










 In Science we will continue having fun with our unit Light and Sound.  Next week we would like to do our own telephone with Styrofoam cups. Please send in 2 cups with your child by Thursday, November 2nd .



Starting this week, students will be having a Raz-Kids assignment every Thursday. They will have to read the book I assign to them. After reading the book they will have to do the worksheet I send home. This worksheet will be going home in their folders.  If you have any questions, please contact me.
