Dear Parents,
I hope that everyone had a great long weekend and ready for
another exciting week! Thank you for coming to our United Nations Celebration.
We had a great time!
I would like to remind all parents to read all the special
teachers' blogs, as well as the administration blog. Each blog includes
important information about your child's learning and the school.
This week your child will be inquiring into the following:
Language
Arts
Working
With Words: Students
will be learning these words as well as reviewing older words through various
chants and activities. The spelling challenge will be this Friday. It would
benefit your child to review these words daily. You can help them by writing,
chanting and defining these words.
This week's words are: called,
who, am, boy, now, girl.
Reading- Students will be exploring how to
use pictures to aid in comprehension. We will also identify similarities and
differences between 2 texts. Use context clues to help understand new words,
and retell information in his/her own words. They will distinguish between
information provided by pictures or other illustrations and information
provided by words in a text. We will read informational text about SPIDERS.
Writing- Students will use webs as a
pre-writing strategy in order to write about spiders. The students will be
writing to inform, recall, and gather information provided from sources to answer
questions related to SPIDERS.
Math – Students will continue with
chapter 3 this week. They will use doubles, doubles +1 and doubles minus 1 to find
and practice addition within 20. Also they will learn how to use a ten frame to
add 10, and an addend less than 10.
Science- Students will be beginning
his/her first science theme this week. The class will be investigating weather.
If you have any weather books you would like to share please send them with
your child and label them with your child’s name.
