Week 40 May 26th -30th

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a great weekend and are ready for the last week of school!

Lots of Fun things going on this week:

    Wednesday: Fieldtrip to El Picacho Zoo and La Tigra
** Send snack & lunch, water, sunscreen, and hat) ** Parents are welcome to join us!

Thursday: Sundae Party

Friday: Pancake Breakfast

Please return the permission slip and money for these activities

Friday May 30th is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:45. The Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday at 10:30 am. All parents are welcome to attend.

For the rest of the week, your child will be reviewing skills through various activities and games. The students will also be clearing out their cubby holes so please make sure your child brings his/her backpack to school every day.



I have had a blast teaching your child this year and wish him/her the best of luck in second grade! There will be no homework for the summer, however, I encourage all students to continue practicing their math skills on IXL, as well as read daily and even keep a summer journal as a way to practice their writing. Have a great summer and see you in August!


Report cards and MAP scores will be ready for pick-up on Friday, June 6th.


   Last, the Discovery Zone 4 camp will be beginning soon! If you would like more information about the camp, please visit the administration blog.



This week we will be working on the following:

Language Arts
Working With Words - Your child will be starting to review all the words taught earlier this year through various chants and activities.

Reading- Your child will continue reading informational texts about animals and retelling the information in his/her own words.

Writing- Your child will be finishing up their last writing assignment and presenting it to the class.

Math- This week the class will continue adding and subtracting 2 2-digit numbers without regrouping. The students will be finishing the chapter this week.

Science- Your child will work on his/her animal posters and presentations.

REMINDERS:

DONATIONS - Moving?  Cleaning out?  Community Service Club is collecting used toys in good condition to take with them on their monthly visits to Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos orphange.  Toys can be dropped off in Mrs. Agurcia's room (Rm. 7, Secondary Building).

REPORT CARDS – To facilitate things for our parents, especially those who will be traveling or moving away, the administration has decided to issue the end of the year report cards and MAP reports on Friday, June 6 instead of Friday, June 13 as stated in the calendar. Parents will come to the school to pick up these documents.

DOG SITTER NEEDED – Ms Diane is looking for someone to care for her 1 1/2 year old German shepherd mix dog from June 10-July 17. She is medium-sized.   Must be a dog lover and have no male dogs (the dog has not been spayed yet.)  A securely gated yard is a must.  She is an indoor dog.  Ms Diane will provide food treats and money for any vet emergency that may arise. Bella does well with adults and teenage children.  Please contact Diane Howard-Coventry in the 4th grade.
