Dear
Parents,
I hope
everyone had a great weekend and is ready for the long weekend, which is just
around the corner.
To start, I
would like to ask for your help. The class prize box is running low on” treats”,
if you would like to donate small toys, pencils, stickers etc. We would greatly
appreciate it.
Please send in 75 lps. for our class Valentine's Party. This will cover lunch and dessert for the students.
This week, your child will be inquiring into the following:
Language Arts
Phonics- This week's words are say, great, where, help, and through. Your child will be learning these
words and reviewing older words through various chants and activities.
Reading-The students will be finishing up Owl At Home and begin reading non-fiction
material about President's Day. Your child will be learning facts and asked to
retell information in his/her words about various presidents. We have attached
a link that can help you explain the importance of this day to your child:

Kids: Veteren's Day, President's Day ( presentation found at 2:14) and
Memorial Day
Writing- Your child will be writing a Personal Narrative about an “Adventure
With a Friend”.
Math- The class will be inquiring into different kinds of graphs. We will be
creating pictographs, bar graphs, and tally graphs.
Social Studies- This week we will begin our Map Unit. We will be examining
map features and creating a classroom map with

Candidate For Head of School Visit- We would like to remind our parents that Mr. Robert Gronniger will be visiting our school as a candidate for the Head of School Position. Mr. Gronniger will be on site thiss Monday February 10 and Tuesday February11. There will be a Q&A Session for Parents on Tuesday, February 11, from 8:00 to 10:00 am in the school library. We would encourage our parents to attend this session and seize the opportunity to ask questions to this candidate.
MIDTERM AND MAP REPORTS- Tne midterm for the third quarter was last Friday, February 7. Midterm reports and MAP reports will be sent outthis Friday February14. please review them and and return them signed Tuesday, February18.

THE INDIVIDUAL CLASS PICTURES FOR THE 2013-2014 YEARBOOK WILL BE TAKEN FROM TUESDAYFEBRUARY 11- WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 19.
SCHOLASTIC BOOKS!- TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY TO PURCHASE BOOKS ONLINE.
CHANGE IN MOVIE DATE AND TIME FROM DPTO- IN ORDER TO OFFER OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY THE LEGO MOVIE IN ENGLISH, THE DPTO HAS MOVED THE DATE FOR THE MOVIE TO SUNDAY FEBRUARY23rd, AT THE SAME TIME11:00AM.
