Dear Parents,
Hope you all had an excellent weekend!
I will be checking my emergency contact information;
therefore I will be sending all of you a text message and or What´s App on
Tuesday. Please respond to my message. I want to make sure that I have updated
contact information for each student’s parents. If you have acquired a new
phone number and or email address please let me know.
Our professional devlopment sessions were very productive. I am very excited about implementing new strategies in the classroom.
This week your child will be inquiring into the following:
Language Arts
Working With Words-This week's words are called, who, its, am, and now. Your child will be learning these words as well as reviewing older words through various chants and activities. It would benefit your child to review these words daily.
Reading- This week your child will begin reading a new book. Mouse Soup by Arnold Lobel. He / she will be identifying the problem in a story. As well as identifying characters, and the setting (where and what time is the story taking place) of the story. Your child will also be using pictures to aid in comprehension, and use context clues to help understand new words. Your child will retell the story in his/her own words and predict the next events in the story.
Writing- Your child will be learning how to use commas when writing groups of three. Your child will also be learning how to incorporate pronouns personal pronouns into their writing.
Math-Your child will be learning about related facts, the fact family, the inverse relationship between subtraction and addition, and how to choose the correct operation in a problem solving activity. This is the last week of chapter 4. Next week, the class will be starting chapter 5.
Theme- Science- Your child will be exploring weather this week by learning how to measure different types of weather.

Bring in an old magazine
Reading- Read for at least 10 minutes and fill out the reading log. It would benefit your child if an adult would ask some comprehension questions after the reading. There is a Reading Comprehension Question page attached to the blog to help you.
