Dear Parents,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend!
Next Thursday, September 12th, the school will be having
the Independence Day celebrations starting at 9:00 am. We will
begin the celebrations by having a traditional Honduran breakfast in the
classroom. Each student is responsible to bring in his/her assigned
food item. These items will be assigned next Monday and a note will be sent
home in your child's folder. Please check the folder. This is a half
day. Students will be going home at 11:45 am. Your child does not need to
bring in a snack for break or lunch that day. Your child is encouraged to wear traditional Honduran clothing or blue
and white. There will be no school Friday, September 13th, and Monday,
September 16th. Classes resume on Tuesday, September 17th.
This week, your child will inquire into the following:
Language Arts
•Phonics -This
week´s words are many, then, them, these, so. Your
child will be learning the spelling and meaning of these words plus reviewing
other Fry words through various activities and chants.
•Reading- This week your child will
begin reading Danny and the Dinosaur by Syd Hoff. Your child be learning
the reading skills making predictions, identifying characters, setting (when
and where), sequencing (beginning, middle, and end), using context clues to
understand the meanings of words within the text.
•Writing- Your child will be
inquring into how to choose a writing topic, and adding details to strengthen
their writing.
Math- This week your child will be starting
Chatper 2. Your child will be learning how to solve joining/
addition problems. There are math on-line activities under the 'Links'
heading that your child can play to practice addition.
Theme- Social Studies-- This week your child will
be finishing the unit on Citizenship. He /she will finish up this unit by
creating a Citizenship quilt. The class will also be starting the next unit,
All About Me. Your child will be identifying his/her role in his/her immediate
family.
IXL SKILLS FOR THIS WEEK : B.1, B.2, B.3, B.4
Practice at least 3times a week for 15 minutes.Homework

FROM THE
COUNSELOR’S OFFICE – Ms. Marilis
will meet with our Juniors and Seniors for the SCAD University Visit on Monday,
September 2, at 11:00 a.m. Following this they will receive the Bentley
University Visit- at 12:00 noon.
On Thursday, September 5
our Juniors and Seniors will attend the CIS College Tour at the American School
from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Please check Mr. Marilis’ blog for more information on
these events.
