Week 30-March 18th-22nd

Dear Parents,

We hope everyone had a great long weekend!
We would first like to thank all the parents that came to Chiminike last Thursday. You were a great help and the children loved having you there, as well as the teachers! There are a few reminders this week.
If your child has still not brought in plastic Easter eggs, can you please have him/her bring them by Tuesday the latest.
This Wednesday is half day. Your child does not need to bring a lunch to school, only a snack, on that day. Students will be going home at 11:45 a.m.

On Thursday we will be having our Easter celebrations. We are planning an egg hunt, potluck lunch, and a water fight (if the weather permits it). We are asking that every child bring something to share for 5 people for lunch this Thursday. We have two students who do not eat pork so we ask that you respect that as you plan your food item. We also ask that each student brings a change of clothes if he/she participates in the water fight. Your child does not need to wear a bathing suit if he/she chooses not to, but please pack your child an extra set of clothes and a towel. Also, if you child would like to bring a water gun to school on that day, he/she is more than welcome to do so. We encourage all the children to have a water gun or any other toy that shoots out water. The more water toys the better!
Finally, this Friday is also a half day. There will be parent-teacher conferences in the afternoon. We will let you know if we would like to meet with you early this week.
This week, your child will be inquiring into the following:

Language Arts
Phonics- This week's words are set, put, end, does, and another. Your child will be learning these words and reviewing older words through various chants and activities.
Reading- Your child will be inquiring into folktales this week. Your child will be making personal connection and identifying the main idea using folktales.
Writing- Your child will continue to explore adjectives this week.

You can help your child with these concepts but asking him/her to identify all the coins we have been counting, as well as asking your child to count coins up to $1.00.
