We hope everyone had a great long weekend! We would like to thank the DPTO for the delicious Teachers' Appreciation Lunch last Friday! We would also like to thank all the parents who attended the General Assembly.
It is hard to believe that the year is almost over! With this in mind, we would like to remind all parents that the year is NOT over yet and that it is very important that your child continue to come to school on time with his/her homework complete, including reading at least 10 minutes a day.
Just a reminder, please have your child wear his/her Discovery shirts on Tuesday for the field trip to 'Jungle Gym'. Your child does not need to bring a snack that day, only a lunch. Also, please remember that there is no school Monday and Wednesday is half day. Your child will be going home at 11:45 a.m.
Last, Discovery school will be holding their annual summer camp this year from June 9th to the 29th. If you are interested in the camp, please see Ms. Carolina for more information.
This week your child will inquire into the following:
Language Arts
- Phonics- There will be no more new words being introduced this year. The class will reviewing older Word Wall words through various words activities and chants.
- Reading- This week your child will be reading a new legend this week, The Legend of the Indian Paint Brush. Your child will not only be reviewing the elements of a legend with this story but also examing sequence (beginning, middle, and end) and connecting story events to personal events.
- Writing- Your child will be inquiring into narratives and be writing one by relating events from the story, The Legend of the Indian Paint Brush, to personal experience.
Tuesday
Reading-read 10 minutes and fill out the reading log
Project- Find at least 5 twigs
Wednesday
Math- Subtracting 2-Digit Numbers worksheet
Reading-read 10 minutes and fill out the reading log
Thursday
Math- Review worksheet
L.A- Study for the spelling challenge (last one of the year! )

School Spirit Day- Every Friday the students are asked to wear their Discovery shirts to show their school spirit!
Water Bottles- Your child needs to bring a water bottle to school everyday. Please write your child's name on the bottle.
Sweaters/Jackets and Other Objects: We ask parents to label all their child’s belongings with a permanent marker. This makes it easier for us to help you look for things if they are misplaced or lost. We also ask for your cooperation by sending back with your child any item he/she brings home that does not belong to him, and to notify the homeroom teacher about it (by text message, email or phone call).
Library- Please make sure your child brings back his/her library book on his/her library day every week.
P.E- Please make sure your child wears proper running shoes and clothes on the days when he/she has P.E
