Week 24 January 31st- Feburary 4th

Dear Parents,

Hope you all had a great weekend!
We are asking for help this week. Please send in any old/extra magazines that you may have (ones with many pictures would be the best) this week.
This week your child will be inquiring the following:

Language Arts
  • Phonics- This week's words are him, into, time, has and look. We will be examining these words plus reviewing the old words with various chants and activities.
  • Writing- Your child will be exploring nouns this week. You can help your child better understand this skill by asking him/her to point out the various nouns in a story you read and explain to you why they are nouns.
  • Reading- This week your child will continue to explore the elements of fairytales. Also, he/she will be learning how to use his/her tone ane expression when he/she reads. You can help your child with this skill by asking him/her to read with a certain voice when a character speaks or you can show him/her how important tone and expression by reading in different voices.
Math- Your child will be beginning Chapter 7, "Counting to 100". In this chapter your child will be inquiring into how to count with groups of 10, how to recognize number patterns, and to skip count. The following words are some of the new vocabulary your child will be learning; estimate, about, before, between, after, even, and odd.

Theme- Social Studies-Fairytales- This week your child will be exploring the 'Gingerbread Man' and reading and rehearsing the 'Little Red Riding Hood'.

-Reading- Read 10 minutes

-Math- Practice time test

Tuesday
-Reading- Read Gingerbread Man
-Math- Practice time test

Wednesday
-Reading- Read 10 minutes
-Math- Number up to 19 worksheet

Thursday
-Reading- Read 10 minutes
-Math- Color by Number worksheet
-Phonics- Study for spelling test

  • Reminders
    1. Please label ALL of your child's belongings with a permanent marker; lunch boxes, containers, sweaters, water bottles, bags, etc.
    2. Water Bottles- Your child must come to school with a water bottle every day.
    3. Library- Please make sure that your child brings his/her library book to school on his/her assigned library day.
