We would like to thank everyone who attended and helped with the Discovery School U.N. celebrations last Friday. The morning was a blast! It couldn't have been better!
This week will be another fun and exciting time of year! Character Dress Up Day will be celebrated Thursday, October 28th. If you have not returned the Character Day form, please do so as soon as possible.
Student-led Conferences are this Friday, October 29th. It is manditory that you and your child attend. We apologize for not sending home the conference time form yet. We have attached the form to the blog. If possible, can you please print it out and have your child bring it to school on Tuesday. We will also send a form home with the children that could not print it out. The sooner we are able to get your convenient meeting time, the better we will be able to acommodate you.
This week your child will be inquiring into the following:
- Language Arts
- Phonics- Students will be reviewing all the sight words that are up on the Word Wall. They will also be examining and creating tongue twisters that begin with the letter 'F'.
- Reading-Students will be identifying the main idea of a story by reading a story entiled 'A Play House for Monster'.
- Writing-Students will be continuing constructing proper sentences by using the 3 characteristics of a sentence; 1)A sentence must begin with a capital letter. 2) A sentence must end with an end mark. 3) A sentence must be complete.
3. Theme- Social Studies- Students will be finishing up decorating their body cut-outs with things
that represent them and their cultures. They will also discuss self-discipline and demonstrate their
understanding of the skill by constructing a graph that will help them remember to use self-discipline
in the classroom and at school.
Please send in the book that your child has chosen for book charcter day on Tuesday. We will be working on various activites using the book.

We would like to thank you for the pet fish that was contributed to 1B, all the wonderful reading books, and the Halloween decorations both classes recieved. If you would like to contribute something to our classes please read the 'Wish List' that was sent to all the parents last month. If you happen to not have the email anymore, please feel free to speak to either Ms. Colette or Ms. Magda and we would be more than happy to provide you with the list.
