This whole quarter we are going to devote our writing to Informative Writing. This kind of writing tells about a person, place, thing, event, or idea. It has sentences that give facts, details, examples, or explanations. This week we are going to research about penguins. We will be activating the children´s knowledge about this wonderful bird and writing about what we learned. We will also write an informative piece about Martin Luther King.

We will be doing mental math of adding ten more to a number and also ten less from a number. You may want to practice this exercise with your child at home. If you say 33, the children should know that 10 more is 43 and that ten less is 23.
