Week of January 9-13



We hope you enjoyed your long holiday break!

This Friday, the report cards will be going home. We will also have a half day for conferences. These conferences are on a need-to-meet basis.

There is no school on Monday, January 16th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 
This week your child will be inquiring into the following:


 This week your child will be reviewing all the Word Wall words with various chants and activities. We will introduce the next 5 words which are:

new
sound
take
only



The spelling challenge will be on Friday, January 13th.


For this week, we will start creating resolutions for the new year; therefore, we will read The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper.
Vocabulary: little, place, work, do, know, years 

  

We will start reading texts on Martin Luther King Jr.   





We will continue writing narratives. We will start writing a personal narrative about our holiday break. 
Continuing from Reading, the students will be writing
an informational text on Martin Luther King Jr. 



We will begin our unit in Solids and Liquids. Students will begin comparing the similarities and differences between two objects.


This week your child will review the strategies of the addition and subtraction learned up to the last chapter.
