September 19, 2015
Dear Families,

I hoped everyone enjoyed their holidays!

This Tuesday, September 20th, we will begin our Math MAP Test. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest as well as a healthy breakfast for them to be ready to take the test.

Language Arts

Working With Words Students will be reviewing the word wall words we have studied up to this point through various activities and chants. The spelling challenge will be on Friday.

New Vocabulary: will, up, other, about, out

Reading: We will be reading materials regarding different landforms and bodies of water. This will be carried over to Social Studies as well.

Vocabulary: Mountain, Hill, Valley, Plain, Plateau, River, Lake, Pond, Ocean, Island

Writing: Your child will continue writing the opinion piece regarding the activities he/she has done with his/her family. They will introduce the topic they are writing about, supply reasons for the opinion and provide some sense of closure.

Math: For this week’s math, we will continue working with subtraction. We will also be introducing bar models. There are IXL skills I have added to the bottom of the blog. Your child is NOT required to do them. However, it’s a wonderful way to get some extra practice.
