Week 32 April 11-15

Dear Parents, 
We hope you enjoyed your weekend!  

We will not have school on Friday, April 15th, because of Dia de las Americas! Enjoy your long weekend!














For Earth Day, we will be helping Arca de Honduras. We need your help by sending in recycled materials such as clean soda cansnewspapers, magazines, clean plastic bottles. Send in as much as you can. We will be helping Arca de Honduras all month long.   


We are also working on reducing the amount of trash we throw away and reusing containers that are used to pack our lunches. Please help us out with this. Our planet will be thankful!



MOTRICITY CLASS- We will be building a pair of  tin can stilts (zancos). You may start looking for 2 clean and empty tin cans of the same size and two pieces of rope that are as long as your child's height up to his or her shoulder. We will start using them on Tuesday April the 12thPlease make sure your child has its own pair by that date.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!!


We have a new digital portfolio called Seesaw. We will be uploading cool things we do here at school. To access this portfolio, you need to download the app called "Seesaw Parent". Please check it out and let us know what you think.



It is starting to get hot in the afternoon. Please remember to have your child bring in a refillable water bottle and a hat. Please make sure to put bug spray and sunscreen on daily! 


This week your child will be inquiring into the following: 

Language Arts
Word Wall- This week your child will be reviewing all the Word Walls with various chants and activities. The spelling challenge will be on Friday, April 15th.

Vocabulary: such, because, turned, hear, why, rain


Reading/Social Studies/Writing:
 
Your child will continue learning about Earth Day and the many ways to help our Earth. 

Math- This week your child will be learning about bar graphs.

For Everyone:

PICAMIEJO PRESENTATION – We are inviting all our students in grades 1-11 to the Picamiejo presentation that will take place at our school on Wednesday, April 20 at 9:00 a.m. The cost of this presentation is L100 per student, and this is one of many activities that we have planned for La Semana Del Idioma Español. There will be a follow up literary discussion and extension project concerning this presentation. Please bring the L100 to your Spanish teacher as soon as possible.
ANNUAL DPTO GARAGE - The DPTO invites all our families to participate and/or attend our annual garage sale on Saturday, April 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00. You can purchase your table for only L400! For Grades K-4:

 BRICK4KIDZ -The new Module for this quarter begins today, Monday, April 4. It is an exciting 4-week adventure that deals with the Laws of Motion. There is still time to sign up! Stop by the conference room on the second floor of the administration building.


For Grades 9-12:
CAREER DAY: We will be having Career Day here in school on Wednesday, April 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We have invited several professionals from our Discovery School community as well from the outside, to come to share with our students their experience and thoughts about the career they chose to pursue. Grades 9th through 12th and all parents are invited to attend.
