Week 6 Sepetember 14-18

September 16, 2015
Dear Families,

I hoped everyone enjoyed their holidays!

This Wednesday, September 16th, we will begin our Math MAP Test. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest as well as a healthy breakfast for them to be ready to take the test.

Lunch will be provided on this day (Wednesday, September 16th) thanks to Sebastian in celebration of his birthday.

This week, your child will inquire into the following:

Language Arts

Working With Words Students will be reviewing the word wall words we have studied up to this point through various activities and chants.  Due to the short week, we will not have a spelling challenge.

Reading: This week, your child will be reading Froggy’s Day with Dad. Your child will compare and contrast their day with Froggy’s. This will also tie into our writing, where they will have to write about their day with their family.

Writing: Your child will be writing an opinion piece regarding the activities he/she has done with his/her family over the long weekend. They will introduce the topic they are writing about, supply reasons for the opinion and provide some sense of closure.

Math: For this week’s math, we will begin working on subtraction. We will be introducing subtraction vocabulary as well as solving word problems. There are IXL skills I have added to the bottom of the blog. Your child is NOT required to do them. However, it’s a wonderful way to get some extra practice.

Social Studies: We will be learning about landforms and bodies of water.

IXL skills for Ch.2: D.1, D.2, D.4, D.6,D.7, D.8,D.9,D.11, D.15
