March 2, 2015

Dear Parents,

We hope you had an awesome weekend! MARCH is finally here. This month we will embark in a journey to the world of Dr. Seuss. We will be having our Read-A-Thon for the whole month.

This week your child will inquire into the following:

Working with Words: This week's words are:
here, following, came, want, show, best
Your child will be learning these words and reviewing older words through various chants and activities.

We will continue with the series of stories by Arnold Lobel. This time the book is called Owl At Home. Students will learn new vocabulary; describe settings, characters and problems in the stories.

Students will work on a writing piece in which they introduce a topic, state an opinion, supply a reason and provide a sense of closure.
We will also be looking at Dr. Seuss books and apply the 6+1 Traits of Writing.(ideas, organization, and word choice). If you have any Dr. Seuss books, please share them with us. We will take good care of them and return them at the end of the month.

We will finish Chapter 7. We will continue comparing numbers to show greater than >, less than < and equal to =.
