Week 18-December 10th-14th

Dear Parents,

We hope you all had a great weekend!

Please take note; The gift exchange will be this Friday, December 14th, not next Tuesday, December 18th. If you choose to have your child participate, please have him/her bring his/her gift this week. Again, if you have a boy, your child needs to get a gift for a boy. The same goes for girls. The gift should be no more than 150 Lemps. This is a very fun activity and we hope that all children participate.
Just a reminder that we are still collecting donations for our support staff. We ask that each first grade student bring a 5 lb bag of sugar to donate to the basket.
Last, the annual Discovery Song Fest is on Tuesday, December 18th, at 6:00 p.m.
This week, your child will be inquiring into the following:

Language Arts
Phonics- This week's words are find, long, down, day, and did. Your child will be learning these words, as well as reviewing other ones, through various chants and activities.
Reading-Your child will be exploring rhyme, syllables, and nouns while reading two poems; 'Hanukkah Treats' and 'How to Talk to Your Snowman'.

Writing-Your child will be writing his/her letter to Santa. Please remember that your child will be giving you the letter to mail to Santa. (Santa better be ready to read about many students wanting puppies).

 Math-Your child will be learning about estimating and measuring. He/She will also be inquiring into probability.

 Theme- Your child will be finishing up his/her Measurement Unit.
