I hoped everyone enjoyed their holidays!
Our
"Desayuno Catracho" was delicious and a complete success. All the
children enjoyed it and had the opportunity to taste some of the food for the
first time.
Progress reports went home last week. Please
look them over, if you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me.
Do not forget to sign them and send them back next Monday.
This Tuesday,
September 19th, we will begin our Math MAP Test.
Please make sure your child gets a good nights rest as well as a healthy
breakfast for them to be ready to take the test.
We invite
you to visit www.nwea.org so you can have more information
about what MAP is all about!
Students will be reviewing the word wall words we
have studied up to this point through various activities and chants. The
spelling challenge will be on Friday. This week we will be
introducing the following sight words:

Your child will write an opinion piece about an
activity they like doing with mom or dad. They will introduce the topic they
are writing about, supply reasons for the opinion and provide some sense of
closure.
For this week’s math, we will continue working
with subtraction.
We will begin
our first science unit. We will be talking about The Weather. If you happen to
have something about this theme that we can use in our classroom, please let us
borrow it.

Small
prizes are perfect as rewards and incentives for staying on task! I am kindly requesting small prizes for our Prize Box.
These are given as incentives when the students have filled their sticker
charts for being caught doing an amazing job and being responsible in First
Grade. This is optional. If you would like to help, some ideas are cute
stickers, pencils, erasers, little notepads, cars, keychains, bubbles, etc. Thanks
again for your support!!!
