Dear Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! We have important information on this blog so please check every Monday and read through everything.
TECHNOLOGY AND
COMMUNICATION - Technology
nowadays provides all of us with wonderful ways to stay connected and informed,
and we appreciate how our parents use technology to stay involved and updated
of what goes on in first grade.
We
would like to ask our parents to use individual whatsapp or email messages to
communicate with us (Ms. Grace, Ms. Colette and/or Ms. Giselle) if there is a
question or comment that needs to be made. The first grade whatsapp group is a
support group for parents, and we feel that as teachers we need to use other
ways of specific and individual communication. That is why you will probably
not see many responses from us in this group.
If
we need to send a message to all parents, we will be doing so by email or
broadcast in whatsapp.
We
appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Quisiéramos solicitarles a
The October Holidays will be from October 7th to October 9th! Therefore, there will be no school on Oct. 7th, 8th, and 9th; school will resume on October 12th.
Please make sure to look at the folders (Homework and French), take out any papers (unless indicated otherwise) and keep them at home. Then return the folder the following day.
Starting this week, because the students will be working in their French workbook, the french folders will not be sent home every week.
Language Arts
Working With Words: Students will be reviewing all the word wall words we have studied up to this point through various activities and chants. The spelling challenge will be on Friday.
Reading- This week your child will be reading The Fat Cat Sat on the Mat by Nurit Karlin. This will carry over to our writing as well.
Writing- Your child will be writing an opinion piece regarding The Fat Cat Sat on the Mat and their favorite part. For the opinion piece, they will introduce the topic they are writing about, supply a reason for the opinion, and provide some sense of closure.
Math- This week, your child will continue and develop their skills in subtraction. There are IXL skills we have added to the bottom of the blog. Your child is NOT required to do them. However, it’s a wonderful way to get some extra practice.
