We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday and that you have recharged your batteries to start a new month in First Grade.
This month your child will have the opportunity to purchase books through the International Scholastic Book Clubs. This is an optional activity offered by the school, in case you want to motivate your child to read at home and to increase their own library. With you purchase, our library will accumulate points to redeem for more books for the benefit of you children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is October 9th. The books will arrive to the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students according to their orders,
approximately three weeks after the purchase due date.
approximately three weeks after the purchase due date.
On October 10th we have been invited to go on a Field trip to Banco Central. Permission slips will be sent home so you can sign them and return them to school.
We would like to remind you that on Friday, October 19th we are having Student Led-Conferences for the first quarter.
Please make sure your child can recognize ALL the following sight words. The children will be assessed in these 70 sight words for the first quarter of their report card.
This week we are going to be introducing the following words:

This week we are going to be doing our last Opinion Writing piece. We are going to be writing about: “Would you rather go apple picking or jump into a pile of leaves?”
In Math we are going to be learning strategies for addition and subtraction within 20. Children will get to decide the best strategy to use when solving a problem.
