First Grade: Week of Feb. 13-17

We would like to give a warm welcoming to our First Grade class to NICOLAS SAID ISA. We would like to ask you to please include him in the Valentine Activity you are doing at home so he can also receive some treats. Now our class has a total of 13 students. Here is the list:

We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14^th. We will be discussing ways to be good friends. To celebrate this special day, we are going to be having a delicious lunch the cafeteria staff would be selling. For this, we would like your cooperation in sending in Lps. 80.00 (try to send in the exact amount in a sealed envelope). This will include lunch, drink, dessert and a small treat.

This week your child will be inquiring into the following:

This week your child will be reviewing all the Word Walls with various chants and activities. The spelling challenge will be on Friday, February 17th. The five new words that we will be introducing this week are:

For this week, we will be reading Owl at Home by Arnold Lobel.

The students will be describing characters and recalling events in the story.

We will be wrapping up our unit in Solids and Liquids. Students will be presenting their work about what they learned about solid and liquids.

This week we are starting a new chapter. Your child will learn about adding and subtracting two digit numbers. We are going to have a Math Test this Friday about comparing numbers (greater than, less than) (last chapter covered).
