Dear Parents,
We hope you had a great weekend with your family! We are
beginning a new month today, FEBRUARY.
This week your child will inquire into the following:
Language
Arts
Working
with Words: This week's words are:
sentence,
car, think, man, good, name
Your child will be learning these words and reviewing older words
through various chants and activities.
Reading:
We will continue
reading Frog and Toad All Year Round
by Arnold Lobel. Students will be identifying who is telling the story in various
parts in the text. Also, they will identify words and phrases in a poem that
suggest feeling or appeal to the senses.
Students will ask and answer questions about key details from
information presented through media to determine or clarify meaning of unknown
words.
Math:
We will begin Chapter 6, place value and data, counting up to
120 and making numbers using tens and ones.
The class will be practicing skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, up
to 120. Please help your child with skip counting by asking them to count
nightly. Your child is expected to be able to count to 120 forward and back by
1s.
Recommended Stories : Reading math stories reinforces ideas.
One is a Snail, 10 is a Crab by April Pulley Sayre
Science:
